The self storage units are typically secured by the renter themselves, and the operators of the self storage do not usually have direct access to the contents inside. This takes care of any security issues and greatly minimizes the risk of theft and property damage. In addition, many self storage are operated under computer control and there are usually security cameras on the premises to add a greater degree of protection. In a sense, it is almost like leaving your possessions at home, although it is of course much safer in a self storage facility.
